Re: Dual Band Tier 2 DMR VHF/UHF Thread

update - the VAT thing just means that VAT registered suppliers will be highlighted and Ex-vat prices shown for these people. They still need to then provide a VAT invoice, Amazon, neatly sidestepping the VAT status they enjoy/abuse.

Re: Shop Watch - TYT MD390

The simplest thing is to use a cheap SDR dongle and your computer with SDR sharp and DSD+ which is a really useful, dirt cheap receive system - which reveals the details of what you are receiving, then you enter the details into the radio.

Re: Dual Band Tier 2 DMR VHF/UHF Thread

It always niggles me that Amazon rarely include VAT on any invoices, but yesterday they asked me if I wished to convert my personal account to a business one if I was VAT registered, which I am. I've done this as many of my invoices are for business purposes. Hopefully now more of my received invoic...

Re: Dual Band Tier 2 DMR VHF/UHF Thread

Good news on the 3 pin plug - but it shouldn't be labelled as a USB connector when it doesn't meet the standard, and anyone blowing up another electrical device with it would have a decent case against the supplier if in the UK. My radio came from Radioddity - with the 2 pin charger and adaptor. My ...

Re: MD-390 Help With a Repeater Setting - Please.

If you are trying to add your own radio into what could be construed as a "safety of the public" system, please do not, unless you know what you are doing otherwise it could come to bite you in the arrse.. Not trying to be a spoilsport but if something were to happen and an unauthorised r...

Re: New MD-380 User - Windows 10

The driver was the old USB to serial prolific version - but this was troublesome with Windows 7 onwards. The trouble is some cables use counterfeit chips, some real. Try this link http://www.prolific.com.tw/US/ShowProduct.aspx?p_id=225&pcid=41 It won;t hurt to try it. If not, TYT will probably s...

Re: New MD-380 User - Windows 10

Don't know your surface book - but many of my programming cables fail on Windows 10, because plugging in the USB cable makes Windows auto load the wrong driver. My 380 will programme on Windows 10, but often requires me to re-install the driver as Windows insists it has a better one - which it doesn...

Re: EUROSTICK DX 25-2000MHz (SWR needed?)

It's very odd when you get a product that has NO useful specs anywhere Googlable - so the same product goes up to 1GHz, or 2GHz in some ads. Many quotes of 50 Ohms which makes no sense because that would be frequency dependent. Nobody has any gain figures. My conclusion is it's a bit of metal in the...
