Re: PD705 LT firmware / CPS

Thank you Brian, I will look into doing that when I get the time. I was a bit concerned about bricking the radio but found the upgrade procedure is documented and is the same as on the PD785. I managed to upgrade my PD365s OK (although there were no benefits) so hopefully this will not be too proble...

PD705 LT firmware / CPS

I wondered if anyone else has one of these radios or knows of recent firmware updates (and matching CPS) for it. I cannot seem to find anything via Google. I'm hoping that they will fix the audio 'spikes' -- short blasts of very high volume on received overs, mostly at the beginning. I notice this o...

Re: BL-2006 batteries

It does help, Darren, and I thank you for your input. At the time I bought the battery from China I also bought one from Radioswap and so far this one has been fine. It's too soon to say whether it will last a reasonable time (say 18 months of average use) so I will report back if I get any problems...

Re: Can Hytera be recommended?

Pretty much standard experience, I reckon. Hytera and Motorola are only interested in the mobile radio dealers, not the hobbyist. In fact I wonder how the mobile radio dealers get on with Hytera and if they find them hard to work with.

Re: BL-2006 batteries

Thanks Colin, so it's looking in that case like the original battery is defective as its voltage sat in the charger rises upwards from 7 to about 7.3 V in the less-than 2 minutes it is charging before the light starts flashing. When the second battery is put in the charger (and the light immediately...

Re: BL-2006 batteries

Hmm, not sure how I could do this. There are two terminals between the + and - marked T and C. Any ideas what these are for? Incidentally I have been trying the original genuine Hytera battery which came (dead) with the radio and this is showing 7V but what happens is that each time I try to charge ...

Re: BL-2006 batteries

Thanks Colin, the battery is reading 0.02 V so I will try to get a trickle charge into it.

Re: BL-2006 batteries

Thanks for the reply, g4eml. I have already tried all the suggestions for getting the blinking led to go off, with no success. I will try trickle charging the two batteries to see if it is the voltage being too low for the Hytera charger. However I am not sure it will be successful as neither batter...

BL-2006 batteries

Is anyone else having problems with these li-ion batteries in their PD-785 / 705 radios? They just don't seem to be reliable. The genuine Hytera battery that came with my used PD-705 from eBay was defective from the start, giving a red blinking light in the charger. I wasn't too pleased that the sel...

Re: Volume knob PD705LT

I found under the keypad settings in the CPS that the volume knob can bet set to lock (along with the keys / channel knob if you wish), so this is how I have now set the radio up. Won't have to worry about catching the dials now when portable. 8-)
