Re: Radioddity x Baofeng RD-5R DMR

Ian,
The RD5R is basically a repackaged radioddity GD-77. The codeplug is slightly different though.
It can be converted with a bit of effort using my CSV tools from gb3gf.co.uk/downloads

Re: Dual Band Tier 2 DMR VHF/UHF Thread

I am pretty sure it was not a deliberate decision and I would have thought it was a simple thing to fix but they seem to be saying it is not. In fact they increased the number of RX lists to 128 to improve the situation.

Re: Dual Band Tier 2 DMR VHF/UHF Thread

The only strange thing about the GD77 is that you have to have a RX group on every digital channel. On most radios you will always hear the group you are talking on. On the GD 77 you will not hear anything without a RX group. So if you are talking on TG235 you need a RX group with 235 in it.

Re: SMS - Phoenix Network

I am involved with Phoenix but have not got much in depth experience of the setup since it switched over to using the the DMR+ codebase. As far as I was aware text messaging was working but your experience seems to indicate that may no longer be true. If you send a message using the contact page on ...

Re: Dual Band Tier 2 DMR VHF/UHF Thread

I think you will enjoy it. I think it is a good radio, especially considering the price. There are a few firmware problems but that’s not unusual for a new radio and radioddity seem to be working hard to improve it. I am very happy with mine. (I don’t really need it as I have lots of DMR radios but ...

Re: Dual Band Tier 2 DMR VHF/UHF Thread

The new firmware does work and adds some useful features to the radio such as VFO. However I would recommend waiting a while as there are still a couple of problems. Some people have reported that under some circumstances the radio goes into permanent transmit on its own and gets very hot. I haven’t...

Re: MD9600 First impressions...

Some progress. It looks like the missing audio problem might be due to having the A and B receivers set to the same band. In this condition the radio scans between the two frequencies. It doesn't seem to decode DMR properly when it is doing this. The original CPS would only allow UHF frequencies on ...

Re: MD9600 First impressions...

Thanks for that Chris, it confirms that it is not a fault with my radio.

Yes, the transmit audio quality seems to be good and the receiver sounds good when it is working.

MD9600 Microphone Connections

Thinking ahead to making a mobile headset microphone I decided to investigate the microphone connections for the MD9600. It appears that the microphone circuitry is almost a direct copy of the Yaesu MH-48, the service manual for which can be found on the internet. The 8 pin RJ45 connections are as f...

MD9600 First impressions...

Having had my MD-9600 for a few days I decided to write a few reports on my impression so far. This post is concentrating on my first impressions of the radio from a users point of view. See my other posts on the CPS and the RF performance. Overall after playing with the radio for a few days my feel...
