The CSI CS700 is affordable enough to be an impulse buy for the amateur who wants to get into DMR but has no idea of what it's all about. The attractive price, included programming cable and the free programming software make it very attractive.
However, on more than one occasion I've had to offer advice to guys who have got the radio home, switched it on and then have absolutely no idea how to get it working. It's been sold programmed with the latest code plug but often the user has no idea what is in that code plug or how to access the channels/talkgroups that they wish to use. They are often mystified by the fact that most of the buttons on the keypad don't do anything but bleep and by the fact that the display doesn't give many clues!
I've recorded a very short 'quick and dirty' video on how the CS700 menu works and uploaded it to YouTube. 'Production values' are awful I'm afraid, but hopefully it will get new users started.
