TG235 Update

Postby UKDMR_ADMINS » Mon Feb 02, 2015 7:53 pm

Folks,

Here is chapter and verse information regarding the upcoming changes to TS2/TG235, as has been discussed with the UKDMR_ADMINS group.

WHY ARE THESE CHANGES BEING MADE?
Some repeater keepers had complaints from their users because the "locals" were being locked out due to international (or uninteresting) traffic being concurrently carried on both timeslots. A discussion revealed that this was a fairly wide ranging issue, and the suggested resolution from one repeater that was badly affected was to remove TG235 from TS2 on that repeater only.

Once it was understood by the keepers that this would effectively mean that "UK Wide" was no longer going to be actually UK-wide, and that the obvious outcome was going to be to cause confusion for the users it became fait accompli that the sensible thing to do would be for everyone to remove this TG from TS2.

Please be aware that this has been TOTALLY a matter for individual repeater keepers; there has been no vote, nobody is mandating this change. Individual repeater keepers are doing this because it makes sense.

WHICH REPEATERS ARE CHANGING?
If you are using - or planning to use - any of the following repeaters, please update your codeplug to remove TG235 from TS2 (or get a new codeplug from your usual source):-

GB7AV, GB7CT, GB7DD, GB7DS, GB7EP, GB7EX, GB7FW, GB7GF, GB7HM, GB7HX, GB7LP, GB7MB[*], GB7NM, GB7NS, GB7PN, GB7TP, GB7WL
[*]GB7MB was an early adopter, and has already dropped this TG

If the repeater(s) you are using are NOT in the above list, then you need take no action. However, you will find that TS2/235 no longer carries a truly "UK Wide" talkgroup - change to TS1/TG235 for that functionality.

WHEN WILL THESE CHANGES TAKE PLACE?
They are scheduled for the morning of MONDAY 9th FEBRUARY 2015

I HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT THESE CHANGES; WHO DO I ASK?
You can ask your local repeater keeper, or you can post here in the "Ask UKDMR_ADMINS" section.
