MD9600 CPS 1.18 VFO Mode Bug

Postby g4eml » Fri Sep 01, 2017 12:10 pm

Just a warning, the MD9600 can support 3000 channels, however there appears to be a bug in the CPS V1.18 which causes any channels above 1028 to disappear!. Really annoying after you have just entered lots of channels!
This appears to be triggered by programming the VFO parameters.

So, until TYT come up with a fix I suggest you leave the VFO parameters blank.

In fact the channels are still there and will program into the radio. However you loose access to them through the CPS.
If you really want to use the VFO program it as the last thing before sending to the radio and don't save the codeplug to disk as reloading it will have hidden the channels.

Does the handheld code plug transfer direct into the mobile?

Also have the number of contacts in the MD9600 been increased to match the handheld?

Hi Chris,

Yes,I believe that is what Chris did when he programmed the radios. he told me he was using your 2017 codeplug.
Only problem was all FM repeaters receive CTCSS was set to an invalid value of 60Hz. So none would receive even though the front panel showed RCTCSS as off. Setting a valid value then returning to 'off' got each one working again.

There are 3000 channels, 250 zones, 250 scan lists, 250 group lists 10000 contacts.
64 * 2 channels per zone.
32 contacts per group list
31 channels per scan list.

I suspect they will increase the size of the contact list the same as the handheld given time, although I am not bothered by that, I don't need loads of contacts.

There are some bugs with the CPS. Not sure if they are the same for the 2017.
Export and re-import channels from .CSV causes all zones to loose everything except 16 channels in bank A. (Really annoying otherwise its a great way of adding channels.) I may have to write something to save the zones and then restore them, it would be easy enough to do.
Programming the VFOs causes channels above 1028 to disappear.

There are also some strange bugs with the firmware.
Seems slow to receive DMR audio. Often loosing the first few words. Sometimes audio never comes through although screen shows ID and TG.
Cant access menu when receiving.
Loud audio click at the end of each received over. (sounds like the audio amp power being turned off. )
Hopefully they will sort this out, especially the lost audio.

I will do a better write-up when I have some more time.

I will try to give you a call on it when I next hear you.

Sounds good. I've just revamped the shack in order to make space for 2 mobiles and 6 handhelds and now just updated all radios firmware.
I'll be updating the HT-500D code plug in 2 weeks once all NoV's have been issued as there are a few more to go.
I can then test it on the HT-500D and MD9600 as I have both available and will check the CTCSS issue.
