Roaming

Postby mds1 » Sun Dec 06, 2015 8:03 pm

If I set to London & SE Roaming does this pick up any traffic on the roaming channels programed in or do I need to press the scan button as well.
And is this the same for all roaming.
Hope this makes sense.

You can only assign a TG entry for a repeater either to a scan or roam list. If you have it set as a roam list, turn to TG8 and it will pick up any traffic through the SE England roaming group. You can setup the RX lists for each time slot then set up a TS2 with all TS2 TG's (TG8 & TG9). Then if you are listening to TG9 on slot 2 then you will hear if TG8 pops up.

Hi Martin, it depends on the make of radio and how the radio was programmed, my CS750 is programmed so that it Auto Scans when a London & SE Roaming channel is selected - this would normaly be CH1 on my radio.
There are other Roaming Groups in the UK and I have set them up the same way.

OK Martin I see you have a 380, so I have loaded up the TMRF codeplug into a copy of the 380 CPS..
As it stands you have to press the SCAN button when you select a London & SE TG8 Channel, to make it automatic:
Go to each TG8 Channel that is listed in the London & SE Scan List and change the following in the CPS:

OK, give it a try and see if the Auto Scan suits you..
It might be an idea to keep a log of what changes you make, that way you can backtrack easily..

What I have noticed in the entry above Auto Scan labeled Admit Criteria - is set to 'Always'. it might be worth changing this to:
'Color Code' on all repeater channels. Reason being is the Always setting allows you to key over everybody else, the Color Code (free) setting helps to prevent this. On simplex channels leave the setting as 'Always'.
