Hi (first post here) Took delivery of a spanking new MD-390, created a decent codeplug from scratch after watching you-tube instructions etc, and quite chuffed with myself.
I decided to take everyone's advice and update the firmware and all went well until the radio restarted...........
Now I turn it on, i get a beep and the welcome screen, wait 5 secs or so then "beep - welcome screen" - "beep - welcome screen" - "beep - welcome screen" - over and over.
I used http://www.va3xpr.net/programming-software-firmware/
to download the firmware as everyone seemed to point there and used the 2.34 firmware (not the experimental ones).
I've tried re-flashing the firmware back to all previous version but same result "beep - welcome screen" & repeat etc.
It's detected in USB ok, so not a driver issue, but it does appear and disappear in device manager (since it is cycling on and off itself) but that isn't the issue.
does anyone know this issue? - is there a fix?
is it possible to "factory reset the radio? - i've tried the power and top side button into programming mode but that doesn't work.
Is there a way to "root" the radio and reset it?
does anyone have an old firmware that works? - i have no idea what version this radio is at now.
I was able to push my codeplug into it via programming mode, but still the same "beep - welcome screen & repeat" exists.
I know it's an MD-390 but apart from the case and battery, it is the same radio as the MD-380/retevis RT3
I'm pretty adept in IT and quite convinced this isn't a driver issue, and is more a firmware/programming issue.
Any help, advice, step-by-step info or even files would be gladly accepted & welcomed
thanks to all in advance.
