Hytera MD-665

Postby g4aqv » Mon Sep 28, 2015 3:11 pm

Has anybody got any experience of the MD-665 please?

I have very little room in my car and was thinking of getting one of these but am worried about the size of display and using it whilst mobile! I take it that being a "Motorola" that the maximum scanning channels available is still 16.

Thanks for any information

Hi Karl,

I have a Hytera MD655 in my car, it was going to be very difficult to get a standard Motorola / Hytera mobile fitted safely in my Honda FRV so I went for the MD655. Had it about 3/52 in the car and I must say I am very pleased with it.

Its in the boot with the 6m mike lead running to the right of the drivers seat. The mike head lives in the box under the middle seat in the front when its not being used, it sits on my lap when it is in use. The sensitivity is good and the audio reports are excellent . The mike is a good size to hold in my smaller hands and its very easy to use mobile. The display is adequate with zone, channel and volume being prominent, power level , scan are in smaller letters. The display is a bit bright at night but not a big problem. It shows the talk group and DMR ID on Rx but no call sign or channel alpha numeric description.

I like it a lot, my iPhone shows the live monitor so I can see the call sign in the hands free display of the phone as I am driving, the basic display on the control mike means that its less interesting to look at while your driving so I don't do that at all, and as a result think its a bit safer.

I would recommend it for an easy neat install and a nice radio to use mobile.

I can post some snaps if you want a closer look at it .

regards Allister

Excuse the delay , just came across this posting .

These are the phone snaps of the MD655 in my Honda FRV.

The radio is in the boot as you can se and there is a cable duct on the righthand side under the trim that I ran the separation cable s for the Kenwood D700 and the extended mike cable for the Hytera. I get good reports on the audio and the radio is easy to use and not too distracting .

There is a panorama M8 mountain the centre of the roof with a UHF 1/4 wave whip which works very well round town .

Easy set up and very pleased with it .

Not sure why the pictures have come upside down and rotated , but you get the idea !

Regards Allister

The item you need is an SM25A2, they definitely exist as I purchased one less than a week ago.
